10/29/12: Robert Plant, Morgan Freeman interviews at the Sunflower Fest to air on Mississippi Roads

JACKSON - Interviews with rock superstar Robert Plant and actor Morgan Freeman during Clarksdale's 25th Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival will air on Walt Grayson's Mississippi Roads program for Mississippi Public Broadcasting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1

Plant headlined the Sunflower's three-day celebration in downtown Clarksdale, and attracted an audience of 20,000 - the largest crowd in history, according to security teams from Homeland Security, the Clarksdale Police Department, Coahoma County Sheriff's Department, and Wood Security.

The celebrated former Led Zeppelin vocalist granted only three interviews during his stay in Clarksdale: CNN, Grayson with Mississippi Public Broadcasting, and London journalist Paul Sexton who covered the concert for Billboard and the Daily Telegraph, according to Sunflower officials.

The CNN interview is expected to air later with an expanded feature on Clarksdale and the Mississippi Delta.

Freeman and his business partner Bill Luckett, were honored by the Sunflower with the festival's highest honor, the Early Wright Award, for their contributions to the blues and gospel heritage of Clarksdale.

Plant was named the first recipient of the Sunflower Festival's Hall of Fame.
