Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival
06/27/19: Sunflower Fest certified a 'Southern Travel Treasure'

AAA’s magazine features 32nd celebration in July/August issue

CLARKSDALE – More than 933,000 frequent travelers will be reading about Clarksdale’s 32nd annual Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival in the July/August issue of AAA’s Southern Traveler Magazine, according to managing editor Deborah Reinhardt.

Reinhardt says the Sunflower has been certified an official “Southern Travel Treasure.”

“Travel Treasures recognizes special places and events in the magazine’s circulation area,” she continued.

The 3-day free festival takes place in downtown Clarksdale August 9-11.

“We are delighted over this wonderful publicity and being selected a “Southern Travel Treasure,” says festival chairman Melvita Tillis Presley.

“This is a tribute to our amazing Mississippi Delta musicians who will be performing on the main stage adjacent to the Delta Blues Museum, eight air-conditioned acoustic stages, and our gospel stage inside the Civic Auditorium,” continues Presley.

“It’s also a tribute to our members and patrons who work all year raising funds to keep the festival free,” she adds.

Regional magazine editor Dennis Heinze says the AAA Southern Traveler magazine is being mailed to more than 300,000 AAA members in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
