12/14/19: Blues Grammy Nominee ‘Kingfish’ Ingram honors Deceased mother with emotional ‘Amazing Grace’
SARDIS – In an emotionally-charged rendition of “Amazing Grace,” 20-year--old internationally renowned blues Grammy nominee Christone “Kingfish” Ingram honored his late mother, Princess Latrell Pride Ingram, on the eve of her 50th birthday during services here Saturday morning at St. Peter M. B Church.

Princess Ingram died December 4, and Dr. Walter Newson Jr., said, “This is a celebration of a life well-lived. Princess was a special name. She touched many lives, and she was just like a princess.”

Among those attending the packed church service with many wearing pink and white corsages were her former classmates from South Panola High School.

A graduate of Clarksdale’s Delta Blues Museum’s After School music program, ‘ Kingfish’ has performed at the Obama White House, on the BBC with Jules Holland, the Legendary Blues Cruise, and has headlined several blues festivals including the Sunflower River Blues Festival in Clarksdale and the Portland Blues Festival.
