Make advance reservations for the VIP Tent

Although the 23nd annual Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival remains free and open to all music fans, it will be featuring a VIP tent again for special donors who make a $300 tax-deductible donation to the non-profit Sunflower River Blues Association.

VIPs receive four (4) ID wrist bands to bring guests inside the 20-ft x 40-ft air-cooled tent to enjoy the music and relax at linen-covered tables and chairs with unlimited free beverages (from water and soft drinks to beer, tea, wine coolers, Coke and Crown) each day/night, Friday and Saturday, August 6-8, 2010. The tent is located near the main stage.

VIPs also receive invitations to the Thursday night “Grits, Greens, and Barbecue” preview party in Clarksdale’s historic district.

The menu of cheese grits, Louise Campbell’s famous turnip greens and cornbread, smoked barbecue and watermelon originated years ago to introduce Norwegians from the Sunflower’s sister city of Notodden, Norway, to Southern Soul Food. Now everyone wants a taste.

“VIP funds help pay performers and production costs including sound and lighting, and ultimately keep the festival free,” comments co-chairman John Sherman.

“Our members and volunteers who range from doctors, lawyers, educators, and secretaries, to musicians, cooks, and prison guards are committed to keeping the festival free,” comments Melville Tillis, co-chairman.

“All contribute enormous hunks of time, services, and fun to this celebration.”

To make reservations for the VIP tent, send $300 checks to the Sunflower River Blues Association, Box 1562, Clarksdale, Miss. 38614. Wristbands will be distributed at the VIP tent.
