Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival
08/06/12: Signed John Lee Hooker guitar offered for raffle
John Lee Hooker Guitar

A guitar signed by legendary bluesman/Clarksdale native John Lee Hooker is being raffled ($5 ticket) at the 25th Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival.  After the celebrated guitarist with his distinctive voice, was unable to perform at the Sunflower River Blues Festival with Charlie Musselwhite because of eye problems, he signed the guitar for the Sunflower River Blues Association. Proceeds will help underwrite expenses for the free festival, and the guitar will be displayed at the festival hospitality tent. Musselwhite says he and Hooker were good friends from their early days in Chicago and Detroit before both moved to California. Hooker later served as Best Man when Charlie and Henrietta Musselwhite were married in San Francisco.
