BLUES MUSICIANS NEEDED TO PLAY ON TRAIN TRIPS DURING SUNFLOWER

CLARKSDALE – Blues and trains in the Mississippi Delta share a rich history.

Many bluesmen hopped freights and rode boxcars to play outside depots from Memphis to Vicksburg.

However, the Sunflower River Blues Association is offering musicians a safer train ride and a chance to pick up a hatful or guitar case of tips if they are good.

Musicians interested in performing for tips on the historic train trips from Clarksdale to Hopson Plantation during the Sunflower Festival Aug. 6-8, should submit their bios/resumes and/or CDs to Maie Smith, festival booking chairman, Delta Blues Museum, 662-627-6820 or email: maie@deltabluesmuseum.org

Scheduled are two round trips on Friday, Aug. 6; four, Saturday, Aug. 7; and two, Sunday, Aug. 8. For photos and details, visit the festival website: sunflowerfest.org
