Blues Trail unveiling honoring the Dickinson family



Enjoying Hernando’s unveiling of a Mississippi Blues Trail Marker Thursday honoring the celebrated Jim Dickinson Family of North Mississippi are from left (Luther Dickinson’s family including his wife, six-year-old daughter, and one-year-old infant, Luther, his mother Mary Dickinson, and brother, Cody who are principals in the North Mississippi AllStars. The late Jim Dickinson was a pioneer in the Memphis sound recently publicized in the documentary film ‘Take Me To the River,’ and his sons continue his legacy fusing North Mississippi hill country music with rock ‘n roll into a global experience. The unveiling took place before a large crowd outside Hernando’s Public Library. The AllStars perform internationally and have headlined Clarksdale’s Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival two times including one appearance with their father. — Photo by Panny Mayfield
