Blues Prodigy Air Conditioner Project:
Admission Fee: One Air Conditioner

“Blues Prodigy” blues band and The Sunflowr River Association is presenting a Benefit Concert on Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at Ground Zero,Blues Alley, Clarksdale, Mississippi, in an effort to raise funds to purchase window air-conditioning units for musicians, elderly families, and families with handicapped children or small children who are otherwise unable to purchase their own. The concert will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. The entry fee is one air conditioner, or a donation towards the purchase of an air conditioner. Minimum donation: $5.00 per person. Used air conditioning units are acceptable as long as they are functioning.

Four blues bands are performing, including (1) Venessia Young and Pure Blues Express; (2) Josh Stuart, Dr. Mike & the Deep Cuts; (3) Wesley Jefferson Band; and (4) Blues Prodigy. In May Blues Prodigy won the 2001 National Blues Kids Talent Contest.

Local individuals and businesses donating to the project include Bill Luckett/ Ground Zero Blues Club (Benefit Space), Ronnie Drew & Tommy Hood (Sound Engineering), Nancy Kossman/Stackhouse (Souvenir Booklet), Pal Foster & Copytime/North Delta Business Products (flyers).

There are many families in the Clarksdale community who may have given up the idea of having air in their homes due to their financial situations. By the entire community coming together to help those who need our help, this dangerously hot summer will not hinder the health and well-being of those we love and care deeply about.

To make a tax-deductible donation make checks payable to: The Sunflower River Association (For the Blues Prodigy Air Conditioner Project).

You may mail your donation to: Blues Prodigy, 291 Sunflower Ave., Clarksdale, MS, 38614. For more information, please call Elizabeth Usher, Band Leader, at (662) 627-9984, or John Ruskey, Band Manager, 627-4070.
