“We have compiled a list of Mississippi’s best cultural events in summer 2014,” she says.
Opening with “If you find yourself in Mississippi this summer, you’ll be spoilt for choices with the number of festivals, art exhibitions, and music from the biggest names in the Mississippi musical traditions of blues and gospel.”

Illustrating the website’s feature on the Sunflower is a photograph of O.B. Buchana performing on the main stage before a large crowd at night.
“The first Sunflower took place in 1988 as a free festival showcasing and celebrating the very best blues and gospel musicians from Mississippi and beyond,” states the article.

“The festival is characterized by its uniqueness and friendly, laidback atmosphere,” continues the text.

Listing some of the outstanding past performers, the website adds that 2014 headliners include Tennessee-born R&B singer/songwriter Latimore and blues favorite the Big Jack Johnson Band.
