Publicizing the August 12-14 Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival, talented Clarksdale guitarist Travis Calvin plays several selections from ‘Amazing Grace’ to blues classics at Tuesday’s Clarksdale Rotary Club luncheon meeting. A student at Delta State University following graduation from Coahoma Community College as co-valedictorian with his twin brother, Trent Calvin is a member of the Delta Blues Museum staff and a graduate of the museum’s blues education program. Melville Tillis, festival co-chairman, talked about the 24th annual free festival, its benefits to the local economy, and Clarksdale’s unique cultural heritage.
