CLARKSDALE – Kicking off Clarksdale’s holiday season, the annual Thanksgiving Eve Blues Party at Ground Zero sponsored by the Sunflower River Blues Festival is showcasing five dynamite bands, fun contests, and zillions of door prizes tossed from the stage by MC Chris Coleman.

Opening the show at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, will be the Sarah Metcalf Blues Band followed by Big Dave Dunavent at 8:45 p.m.

“Uh, huh” Razor Blade Stewart takes the stage at 9:30 p.m., and Heather Crosse: Heavy Suga’ & The Sweet Tone at 10:15 p.m.

Clarksdale’s all-grown-up blues baby Anthony “Big A” Sherrod, who cut his teeth on stage playing Buddy Guy’s polka-dot guitar, takes over at 11:15 p.m.

“The Blues party is a great place to entertain family members and guests visiting during the holidays,” says Melville Tillis, festival co-chairman.
It also will introduce plans for the Sunflower’s 25th anniversary being celebrated August 10-11-12, 2012.
