CLARKSDALE – Five dynamite blues bands have been booked for the Sunflower River Blues Festival’s annual Thanksgiving Eve party at Ground Zero Blues Club Wednesday, Nov. 27, according to booking chairman Maie Smith.
“The event always attracts an international audience, and we are thrilled to have these talented musicians performing our annual benefit,” commented Melvita Tillis Presley, festival chair.
“It’s popular with local families entertaining visitors and relatives in town during the holidays,” and we appreciate Bill Luckett, Morgan Freeman, and their staff members for sponsoring it, she continued.
Opening the program at 7 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. will be Lala Craig. Terry “Big T” Williams will perform from 8 to 8:45 p.m.; Mark “Mule Man” Massey from 9 to 9:45 p.m.; David Dunavant from 10 – 10:45 p.m.; and Anthony Sherrod from 11 to 11:45 p.m.
The annual party is a benefit for the free Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival celebrating its 33rd season August 7-9.
